Advanced Capsule Endoscopy Users Course
Attendees will learn advanced skills in the use of capsule endoscopy for the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal diseases. This course will use real-life clinical scenarios to help participants hone their skills in interpretation of capsule endoscopy findings and in how to use these findings to improve patient outcomes.

Annual Postgraduate Course: Endoscopic Challenges and Controversies
This course will use a new, time-efficient one-day format to provide the busy gastroenterologist with a complete update of GI endoscopy, including practical “how-to” approaches to common procedures as well as a discussion of emerging and cutting-edge techniques and technologies. There will be several succinct lectures followed by lively panel discussions while participants can text their questions directly from their mobile phones. At the end of the day will be “Breakout Sessions with the Masters” where attendees can participate in more in-depth discussions with the experts on topics of interest. This course will include an emphasis on video case presentations, and participants will be able to take home a DVD of endoscopy video clips following the course.

Improving Quality and Safety in Your Endoscopy Unit
This course serves as a foundation for the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program and is designed to promote discussion and provide a demonstration of methods to improve quality and safety in the endoscopy unit. This course includes modules on defi ning and measuring quality in endoscopy, recommendations for improving the quality in endoscopy units, a review of ASGE quality guidelines and CDC guidelines on infection control, and a hands-on portion covering reprocessing. This course also will help individuals charged with running endoscopy units meet these challenges and ultimately improve the quality of care that is delivered to patients.

Mucosal Excision and Closure Techniques: EMR, Clipping, Looping and Suturing
This course will cover endoscopic methods for tissue excision and methods for closure of defects in the gastrointestinal tract, ranging from mucosal excision sites vulnerable to bleeding complications to perforations or other full thickness closures. The course is designed to blend didactic presentations, case examples, and hands-on experience using ex vivo animal specimens.

Sedation and Monitoring
Highlighting the importance of physician-nurse teamwork, this course is designed to provide an overview of techniques and considerations in the use of sedation during endoscopic procedures. Topics to be addressed include pre-procedure assessment, intraprocedural monitoring, post-procedure assessment, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics and airway management. In addition to didactic presentations, participants will engage in three hours of hands-on activities related to capnography, airway management and event simulation.

Hands-on Training in Advanced Endoscopy for GI Nurses/Techs
This course will allow participants to gain knowledge in emergent GI situations and provide hands-on exposure to endoscopic techniques and devices utilizing ex vivo pig stomachs.

Basic Capsule Endoscopy
This course will provide you with hands-on interpretations of unknown cases with expert assistance in reading real cases. You will learn how to decide which patients are right for capsule endoscopy and how to adequately prepare them. Not only will you gain experience in making diagnoses, reading results and writing reports, you will also be able to discuss indications and contraindications for capsule endoscopy.
ASGE’s “Guideline for credentialing and granting privileges in capsule endoscopy” recommends a hands-on course with a minimum of 8 CME credits endorsed by a national or international GI society. This course meets that guideline.

ENDOFEST
