ASGE Awards


Each year ASGE recognizes and presents awards to members who have contributed to the body of knowledge in our profession, to the betterment of our organization and to society as a whole. Their accomplishments in practice, education, research and/or training, have improved the quality and efficacy of the profession.

ASGE is recognized as the premier specialty society dedicated to the education of physician members in the appropriate use of endoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. Congressional Service Award
The Congressional Service Award acknowledges individuals within the U.S. Congress who are committed to developing and passing healthcare legislation that addresses the need for colorectal cancer screening or promotes the gastrointestinal health of its constituents.

Distinguished Educator Award
With this award, ASGE recognizes the contributions of physician educators and their involvement with trainee education, development or participation in endoscopy seminars or national postgraduate courses, published scholarly reviews or published educational materials, including videos.

Distinguished Endoscopic Research Mentoring Award
This annual award, established in 2007, recognizes outstanding career achievement by a member or fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) in the mentoring of faculty or gastroenterology trainees in clinical or lab-related endoscopic research. This distinguished award recognizes mentors who have devoted substantial time and effort in developing and nurturing the next generation of endoscopic investigators.

Distinguished Service Award
This honor is presented to an individual who has made long-term contributions to GI endoscopy in the areas of equipment research and development, as well as a member who has been a strong supporter of the educational and research mission of the Society.

International Service Award
This award was created to recognize outstanding service by an international member who has made long-term contributions to GI endoscopy, as well as an individual who has been a strong supporter of the educational and research mission of the society.

Master Endoscopist Award
This award recognizes clinicians who spend the majority of their time in patient care and are recognized regionally or nationally for their expertise and longitudinal contributions to the practice of GI endoscopy.

Public Service Award
ASGE presents the Public Service Award to an individual who uses a public forum to effectively promote colorectal cancer awareness and the need for screening.

Rudolf V. Schindler Award
ASGE's highest honor is granted periodically to a member whose accomplishments in endoscopic research, teaching and/or service to ASGE, exemplify the standards and traditions of Rudolf Schindler, MD, founder of the American Gastroscopic Club, the forerunner of ASGE.
