Ambulatory Endoscopy Centers (AEC)
Are you part of an AEC or office-based endoscopy unit wanting to continue to grow and flourish? Would you like assistance with outcomes evaluation, continuous quality improvement, information systems development, equipment evaluation and financial management? This SIG supports and nurtures the AEC and office-based endoscopy units.
ASGE Women in Endoscopy (AWE)
More than 1700 members of ASGE are women. The creation of an ASGE Women in GI SIG addresses the needs of female endoscopists by providing opportunities to create strong networks and develop programs specific to the unique professional and personal needs of women in GI. The SIG provides an ideal forum for female endoscopists to achieve individual excellence at every stage of their career.

EndoHepatology SIG (EHEP)
Expand your knowledge of the growing endoscopic developments pertinent to the diagnosis and management of patients with liver disease. The EHEP SIG highlights the growing intersection between gastrointestinal endoscopy and hepatology.
Endoluminal Therapy for Esophageal Disease and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (ETED/GERD)
Expand your knowledge of rapidly growing endoscopic options for patients with esophageal motility disorders, GERD, Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer. The ETED/GERD SIG is dedicated to the advancement of technologies in these areas, both diagnostic (including ambulatory pH testing, FLIP, advanced imaging for Barrett’s esophagus) and therapeutic (including radiofrequency ablation, cryotherapy, mucosal resection, POEM and endoscopic anti-reflux procedures). The SIG also has a goal of keeping members informed on practice management issues such as reimbursement and coding.
Endoscopic Education (EE)
Join your colleagues in exploring how to go beyond simulation or hands-on training and include all aspects of education design formats specific to our endoscopy practices. Engage in a forum for the exchange of ideas on new courses, novel delivery formats and addressing unmet educational needs such as training in new technology and tailoring endoscopic education to the individual.
NEW! Endoscopic Oncology (ONC)
The ASGE Endoscopic Oncology (ONC) SIG focuses on endoscopic oncology by collaboratively researching cancer care using the outcomes from high-quality data to recommend guidelines and improve endoscopic care for cancer patients. ONC will catalyze basic cancer training in GI fellowship programs, especially in fourth-year training.
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
The ERCP SIG provides a place for endoscopists to discuss the latest research and techniques for all aspects of ERCP in both benign and malignant disease, including all aspects of pancreatic and biliary procedures including cholangiopancreatoscopy, stone removal, stent placement, stricture management, complications, and legal aspects of ERCP. The ERCP SIG allows practitioners to keep their ERCP knowledge and skills up to date. Each year at DDW the SIG will meet to have one or more featured keynote speakers to review a hot topic in ERCP as well as discussion of interesting video cases.
Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)
The ESD SIG serves to help direct the growth of ESD, with the specific goals of identifying appropriate applications, promoting safe technique, organizing reporting and study and driving efforts at reimbursement.
Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS)
The EUS SIG offers a valuable repository of information and an opportunity for collaboration and dialogue among endosonographers, fostering clinical, educational and research development regardless of one’s level of experience or expertise. The need for and benefits of participation are greater than ever during this exciting time of rapid evolution of EUS, from a diagnostic modality into one that delivers targeted interventional therapy. Additionally, coding and reimbursement for novel procedures will be addressed.
GI Hospitalist (GIH)
Do you identify as a GI Hospitalist or provide frequent inpatient care? This SIG supports individuals looking to establish careers as GI Hospitalists and those who seek ongoing professional and personal development within their GIH role. This SIG offers a platform for members to share their nuanced expertise and experiences caring for hospitalized patients.
Interventional IBD (IIBD)
It is estimated that there are 1.5 million patients suffering from IBD in the U.S. The majority of them have some form of structural complications, such as strictures or fistula. There has been a gap between IBD and advanced endoscopy specialties. Typically, IBD specialists are not comfortable with performing advanced endoscopic procedures, while advanced endoscopists are reluctant to treat IBD patients. In fact, therapeutic endoscopy in IBD has not been incorporated into the curriculum of current PGY-7 Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship or PGY-7 IBD Fellowship. The creation of a new SIG in Interventional IBD expands the scope of ASGE to the IBD patient population, with a focus on current, advanced principles and the technology of endoscopy, thereby bridging medical and surgical therapies and bridging IBD and advanced endoscopy.
Intraductal Endoscopy and Cholangiopancreatoscopy (IECP)
The field of IECP is rapidly growing within both academic and community practice settings. Given the easier-to-use platforms that are available and increasing literature showing broader efficacy, there has been an increase in interest for this technology among many therapeutic endoscopy providers nationally and internationally. However, the field is lacking in several areas, such as consistency and consensus in terminology and accurate description of imaging findings, tricks of the trade techniques, limited prospective trials and lack of consensus on training required to perform CP. The field and our patients benefit by having collaboration between experienced and novice users of CP for education and research purposes.
Invention & Innovation (II)
The II SIG provides a unique opportunity for ASGE inventors to collaborate to identify and shape new technologies that will allow for the most beneficial result for patients. The II SIG provides inventors important updates on activities related to NOTES®, “boiler plate” agreements and information about patenting inventions and the process of developing your invention from an idea to a clinical device. ut patenting inventions and the process of developing your invention from an idea to a clinical device.

Latin American Gastroenterologists and Endoscopists (LATAM-GE)
The LATAM-GE SIG’s mission is to provide evidence-based education and endoscopic skills training for Latin-American gastroenterologists and endoscopists in their native language of Spanish. The SIG helps ASGE promote excellence and innovation in endoscopy in Latin American communities by translating the society’s educational materials and facilitating hands-on endoscopic courses. The LATAM-GE SIG facilitates partnerships with local LATAM GI societies to become the leader in advancing patient care and digestive health in those regions.
Small Bowel Endoscopy and Capsule Endoscopy (SBE/CE)
The SBE/CE SIG provides a forum to discuss advances in deep small bowel endoscopy for the diagnosis and therapy of small bowel disease, the technical issues of SBE and how to obtain proper reimbursement for this work. This SIG also focuses on expanding knowledge about the indications, applications and role of video capsule endoscopy in the improvement of patient care.
