The techniques and indications for EUS are rapidly evolving. This ASGE Masterclass will provide the tools to offer high quality diagnostic EUS and allow endosonographers to develop the skill set to begin implementing these techniques. In those with more extensive experience in EUS, this course will help to refine their therapeutic capabilities.

Learning Objectives

This curse will cover topics including diagnostic utility, therapeutic uses, general role of EUS in the care of patients with gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal disorders, technology device considerations and what standards should be referenced for determining competency. Case histories will provide an opportunity to learn from various patient scenarios where EUS was incorporated as part of the evaluation process.

The small-group nature of the course will allow for extensive interaction between participants and course directors.An extensive array of clinical tips will be discussed, including how to:

· Prepare the patient, staff, and endosonographer

· Differentiate the various types of solid and cystic pancreatic tumors and treatment with ablative therapies.

· Identify the utility of EUS for evaluating patients with autoimmune and chronic pancreatitis

· Differentiate the various subepithelial mass lesions

· Demonstrate proper technique for EUS FNA and Core Biopsy

· Technical proficiency for EUS-guided pseudocysts, walled off necrosis, and gallbladder drainage

· Evaluate the techniques and role of EUS-guided bile and pancreatic duct access with gastrojejunostomy

· Demonstrate the technical aspects and role of EUS-guided angiotherapy

· Recognize and avoid adverse events
