Nutrition in the Post-Procedural Bariatric Population

Through this activity, learners will determine considerations for pre-procedure dietary preparation including patient labs, vitamins/supplements, and a pre-procedure diet protocol. Learners will gather information about creating nutritional handouts to give to patients to help with dietary education.  The importance of having a registered dietitian as part of the medical team will also be reviewed.

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of patient pre-procedure nutritional assessment
  • Identify nutrition interventions and education for post endoscopic bariatric patients
  • Demonstrate how to create nutrition education handouts for endoscopic bariatric patients
  • Realize the importance of having a dietitian as a member of the care team
