AIGI. Artificial Intelligence Institute for Gastroenterology. A division of ASGE.

The program will consist of both in-person meetings and virtual educational opportunities, including didactic lectures, hands-on training, literature review, mentorship and a team research project in collaboration with researchers, data scientists, gastroenterologists in this space. Scholars will receive an ASGE Certificate for successful completion of the AI Scholars Program.

Long Form Questions
Answer each in 3 - 4 sentences and less than or equal to 100 words. Touch briefly on every item listed in parentheses. This will help us understand your journey and, if selected, match you with the most suitable mentor and team members.

Describe one experience during fellowship in which you led or co-led an AI initiative in gastroenterology (example activities: algorithm development, benchmarking, safety oversight, clinician education, policy advocacy). Include (a) the need addressed, (b) your leadership role and collaborators, (c) the AI-related action taken, and (d) one measurable result that demonstrates impact.

Identify one high-priority GI issue you would pursue during the AI Scholars Program (sample ideas: decision support, dataset curation, bias audit, reimbursement strategy, trainee curriculum). Summarize (a) the issue and its importance, (b) the technical or non-technical approach you would take, and (c) the data, mentors, or resources you can access.

Looking five years beyond fellowship, state the leadership role you aim to hold in advancing responsible AI in gastroenterology (possible roles: health-system champion, guideline author, educational innovator, regulatory advisor, industry liaison). Outline (a) the key contributions you intend to make, (b) the skills or networks you still need, and (c) how the AI Scholars Program will serve as the pivotal next step toward that goal.
