This week the Louisiana State Legislature approved a bill that ensures certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are reimbursed by insurers for the anesthesia services they are licensed and authorized to provide. The legislation has been sent to Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (R) for his signature.
The passage of the bill follows a policy change by UnitedHealthcare to reduce reimbursement for CRNAs by 15 percent for personally performed anesthesia services when appended with the QZ modifier.
Earlier this week, ASGE joined the GI community on a letter to House leaders requesting support for the bill.
