ASGE joined a coalition of national medical specialty societies in a letter supporting H.R. 4710/S. 2420, the No Surprises Act Enforcement Act, legislation intended to strengthen enforcement of the federal Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process.
Although the No Surprises Act established binding payment determinations between physicians and insurers, physician practices continue to report delays in receiving payments, and in some cases, insurers fail to pay at all despite final IDR decisions.
The legislation would authorize penalties for parties that fail to comply with statutory payment timelines following a binding IDR determination, helping address a significant enforcement gap in the current law.
The coalition also continues to advocate for broader improvements to the IDR process, including increased transparency and stronger insurer participation requirements during negotiations.
ASGE supports prompt passage of the legislation and will continue advocating for policies that ensure fair and timely physician reimbursement.
