ASGE has joined members of the medical and public health communities in support of legislation that would improve patient access to Hepatitis C (HCV) testing and treatment.
The bipartisan Cure Hepatitis C Act ( S. 1941 / H.R. 9682) would:
- authorize a new five-year Hepatitis C Elimination Program;
- create an innovative purchasing model for direct acting antivirals; and
- establish the infrastructure necessary in communities across the country to support a test-to-treat program to ensure that more people are diagnosed and linked to treatment at no cost.
Individuals enrolled in Medicaid and children covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) would be among those who would be eligible to access HCV treatment at no cost.
