On behalf of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), congratulations on reaching this remarkable milestone. Completing fellowship is no small achievement, and you should be immensely proud of the dedication, resilience, and passion that have brought you to this moment. For those who have matched into advanced fellowship training, my sincere congratulations. Your commitment to further specialization reflects both your talent and your desire to push the field of endoscopy forward. We look forward to seeing the expertise and leadership you will bring to our profession.
As you transition from fellowship into the next phase of your career, I want you to know that you represent the future of gastroenterology and endoscopy. Your ideas, energy, and innovation will shape how we care for patients and how our specialty evolves in the years ahead. ASGE is deeply committed to supporting you on that journey, and we hope you will continue to see ASGE as your professional home for education, community, advocacy, and lifelong learning in endoscopy.
As President of ASGE, I want to emphasize my commitment to listening to your concerns, your challenges, and your ideas. Your feedback is essential. Understanding what you need to succeed, not only early in your career but throughout your entire professional journey, is a priority for me and for our society. Please reach out to me with any ideas or concerns at membership@asge.org. We are strongest when the voices of our members, especially those at the beginning of their careers, help guide our direction. And I encourage you to apply to serve on ASGE committees when applications are solicited in the fall. My committee experiences not only made me a better doctor, but I also gained leadership skills and many lifelong friends.
The road ahead will be both exciting and demanding, but you do not walk it alone. Whether you are embarking on a career in private practice or academic medicine, as a hospital- or government-employed physician, or are pursuing advanced subspecialty training or a role with industry, ASGE stands ready to support you with the tools, training, mentorship, and community needed to thrive in a rapidly advancing field.
