“Dr. Willingham has been a pioneer in the role of video as a medium for teaching. As a founding member of the Digital Atlas of Video Endoscopy (DAVE) project and a long-standing innovator in therapeutic endoscopy, he is perfectly suited to lead VideoGIE into the future,” said Michael Wallace, MD, MPH, FASGE, Editor-in-chief of GIE, who headed the search committee to fill this role. “Dr. Willingham’s passion for video, endoscopy and his vision for VideoGIE are the key reasons he has been named the next Editor-in-chief.”

“As incoming Editor-in-chief of VideoGIE, I am excited that I will be able to make meaningful contributions in endoscopy and gastroenterology. I am humbled and honored by the trust. I look forward to submissions with strong teaching and video rigor that will maintain the high standards and focus of VideoGIE while advancing its global impact, said Dr. Willingham. “ASGE saw the future of endoscopic video and embraced it from the start, and now, I am excited to be a part of this movement.”
