Dr. Edward Sun is the Assistant Chief Medical Officer and Director of GI Inpatient Services at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, New York. Leading efforts to reduce hospital mortality and readmissions, Dr. Sun embraces innovation and technology to improve patient outcomes and access to care. He earned an MBA in 2018 from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has since pioneered the GI Hospitalist and GI Transition-of-care programs at Stony Brook Medicine. Dr. Sun has been an active member of the ASGE Reimbursement Committee since 2015. He currently serves as the ASGE alternate advisor to the CPT Editorial Panel, advocating on behalf of GI physicians and GI practices regarding issues of coding, reimbursement, technology assessment, and new payment delivery models.
