Sangeeta Agrawal, MD, FASGE
Dr. Agrawal is a professor of medicine, chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and director of the GI
Fellowship Program at Wright State University. Additionally, she serves as chief of the Section of
Gastroenterology at Dayton VA Medical Center, Ohio, and currently presides as president of the Ohio
Gastroenterology Society. With a particular interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in
gastroenterology, Dr. Agrawal focuses on Barrett’s esophagus, esophageal motility disorders, gastrointestinal
cancers and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic retrograde
cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and radiofrequency ablation procedures.
Augustin Attwell, MD, FASGE
Dr. Attwell is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He was the
program director for the advanced endoscopy fellowship until 2023. His interests include endotherapy for chronic
calcific pancreatitis and adverse events of GI endoscopy. He frequently travels internationally, including at
least one medical mission per year, usually to the Philippines. He is interested in spreading technology
interest and knowledge throughout the international endoscopy community.
Kok Pun Chen, MD
Based in Singapore, Dr. Chen's interests are in ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), clinical informatics, AI,
MedTech innovation and green endoscopy. He looks forward to engaging in conversations with fellow ASGE members
to collaborate on topics to advance the practice of sustainable endoscopy globally.
Deepak V. Gopal, MD, FASGE
Dr. Gopal has been an active ASGE member for over 25 years and a fellow of ASGE for 16 years. He has served on
many ASGE committees and currently serves as a proud member of the International Committee. He is a professor of
medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, at the University of
Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison. Dr. Gopal has a clinical interest in
advanced interventional endoscopy, colorectal cancer screening, innovative technologies and quality and safety.
In addition, he serves as the vice chair for quality and patient safety in the Department of Medicine, leading
and actively engaged in quality improvement priorities and initiatives across the department and UW Health. In
his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling extensively, taking long nature walks and watching
movies.
Mostafa Ibrahim, MD, FASGE
Dr. Ibrahim, chair of the ASGE International Committee, is a professor of gastroenterology and endoscopy at
Theodor Bilharz Research Institute in Giza, Egypt. He serves as the head of the Endoscopy Unit at Misr
International Hospital and is a visiting consultant at Erasme University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium. Dr.
Ibrahim is the founder of the ROEYA Training Center, which offers educational programs and training sessions
across the Middle East and Africa, comprising over 400 national and international courses. He has authored
numerous articles in international journals and has been nominated as a fellow of the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Yousuke Nakai, MD, FASGE
Dr. Nakai is a professor and chief of the Department of Gastroenterology, Tokyo Women’s Medical University. He
graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1998 and worked at the University of Tokyo and affiliated hospitals
until March 2024. He had an international fellowship with professor Kenneth J Chang at the University of California,
Irvine, from 2010 to 2012. His areas of interest and expertise include diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP and EUS
for pancreatobiliary diseases and oncology for pancreatobiliary cancers. He gives lectures and hands-on training
at international and domestic conferences to help young fellows develop their knowledge, skills and careers.
