Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the ASGE Health and Public Policy Committee has made significant strides on Capitol Hill, engaging in over 40 meetings to champion critical health care reforms important to our members and patients through the following actions:

  • Advocating for patients, the committee urged Congress to prioritize fixing prior authorization hurdles faced by providers and patients, ensuring timely access to care.
  • The committee pressed Congress to request that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services provides clear guidance on surveillance colonoscopy being part of the screening continuum and rallied support for the Colorectal Cancer Payment Fairness Act (HR 3382), which would accelerate the timeline for removal of cost-sharing among Medicare beneficiaries.
  • The committee delivered a strong message that Congress needs to eliminate the uncertainties surrounding Medicare physician payment by reforming the Medicare Physician Payment System.
