The Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program (EURP) educates and empowers GI health care teams to establish and maintain a culture of quality and safety. It remains the only national program of its kind that offers proven strategies to any unit providing GI endoscopy services. These proven strategies strengthen the infrastructure to support the delivery of effective, efficient, safe, equitable, patient-centered care.
Quality and Safety Are Universal
Beginning in 2023, units beyond the borders of the United States will be eligible to apply to the program as ASGE introduces an international pathway for recognition through this prestigious program. The program expansion of an international pathway has been introduced to recognize high-quality endoscopy performed in every practice setting and around the globe.
A More Eye-Catching ASGE Quality Star
With this expansion comes a dynamic new look. The ASGE Quality Star, which is conferred upon successful applicants along with the moniker of honoree unit, is brighter, sharper and more modern. Honoree units may use the ASGE Quality Star throughout their three-year recognition periods in their marketing materials – from websites to display banners to atop endoscopy reports – so patients, surveyors, referring physicians and other stakeholders see the unit has earned this unique distinction.
“As we look back on 15 years of the Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program and look forward to many more years to come, I am so pleased to see this program fulfilling its promise. Health care team members across the United States have been strengthened through the journey to attain the ASGE Quality Star to the benefit of the patients they serve. With proven strategies to enhance patient care, safety and experience, the Society is taking this program beyond our borders, as quality and safety are universal concepts, so health care teams outside of the United States and the patients they serve may similarly benefit,” Bret T. Petersen, MD, MASGE, ASGE president.
