Prepare for 2021 MIPS Reporting

GIQuIC transparent 175

The 2021 performance year for CMS’ Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) began on January 1, 2021. Learn specifics about reporting during a webinar from the GI Quality Improvement Consortium.

The consortium oversees administration of the GIQuIC registry and is a joint collaboration between the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology. The 2021 performance year of MIPS is GIQuIC’s eighth year offering the benefit of reporting as a qualified clinical data registry (QCDR) for data submission to CMS.

While GIQuIC’s primary purpose is as a quality improvement registry, and it is one in which well over 4,000 physicians participate to monitor the quality of their performance on colonoscopy and EGDs, as a benefit of participation, GIQuIC facilitates, for those who wish, reporting to CMS through its capacity as a QCDR as deemed by CMS. Annually around 1,000 GIQuIC participants chose to submit their quality data already collected in GIQuIC to CMS to fulfill the requirement for reporting. A provider or group must be registered and actively submitting data to the GIQuIC Registry no later than June 30, 2021, to be eligible to report to MIPS via the GIQuIC QCDR for the 2021 reporting year.

Join the GIQuIC team for a webinar on May 18 at 2 pm Central as we take a deep dive into the specifics of planning to report via the GIQuIC 2021 QCDR. To register, click here. The 2021 GIQuIC QCDR is approved to report for individual eligible providers, groups, and virtual groups to the Quality, Promoting Interoperability, and Improvement Activities performance categories.
