Dr. Hiroyuki Aihara is the Director of Endoscopic Tissue Resection in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), as well as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
He received his medical degree from Jichi Medical School in Tochigi, Japan, in 1998 and completed his PhD in Gastroenterology at Jikei University School of Medicine in 2011.
Dr. Aihara has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, with his research focusing on minimally invasive endoscopic treatments for gastrointestinal tumors.
His clinical interests include Endoscopic Submucosal Resection (ESD), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), Submucosal Tunneling Endoscopic Resection (STER), Endoscopic Full-thickness Resection (EFTR), Image-enhanced Endoscopy (IEE), gastric cancer screening and colorectal cancer screening.
