Biography

Dr. James Leavitt is the President and Chief Clinical Officer for Gastro Health. He has been in private practice in Miami since 1980. As a founding physician of Gastro Health, Dr. Leavitt has been instrumental in growing the organization from the original four physician practice to the current multistate gastrointestinal platform.  Dr. Leavitt received his medical education at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and completed his residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. He is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Dr. Leavitt has received multiple awards and recognitions including Becker’s ASC Review Top 100 Gastroenterologists list, Becker’s 92 Great Gastroenterologists to Know and the 2021 ASGE President’s Award Recipient. He is past president and current member of the Florida Gastroenterology Society, two-term South Florida Governor for American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and ACG Practice Management Committee. Dr. Leavitt also previously has served on the ASGE Practice Management Committee.
