Biography
Dr. Vijaya Rao is an adult gastroenterologist with a special interest in celiac disease and small bowel disorders at Rush University. She cares for patients with a variety of digestive diseases, and specializes in celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer screening and gastroenterologic issues in women. Dr. Rao’s research focuses on the ethical implications of invasive procedures and clinical research trials.
Dr. Rao is originally from Milwaukee, WI. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and attended medical school and did her Internal Medicine Residency at the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago. She subsequently completed two fellowships, in Gastroenterology and in Clinical Medical Ethics, at the University of Chicago Medicine.
