Victoria Gómez, MD, FASGE, D-ABOM, is Professor of Medicine and the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She also serves as Program Director of the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program. Dr. Gómez has prior experience as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program at Mayo Clinic and is also currently the Belonging and Engagement Champion for the GI division at Mayo Clinic Florida. On the national level, she remains heavily involved with the ASGE, currently serving on the Editorial Board for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and just prior to this, served as Chair of the Diversity Committee.
Dr. Gómez has a focus and expertise in interventional endoscopy and bariatric endoscopy. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she graduated with Highest Honors and Alpha Omega Alpha distinction. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in Florida and Minnesota, and was recipient of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award . Dr. Gómez has over 150 publications and continues to mentor numerous students and physicians all over the world. Given her expertise and passion for teaching, she has travelled internationally as an invited speaker to many international conferences, meetings, and educational courses including a prestigious endoscopy masters forum.
