The deal to end the federal government shutdown passed by Congress and signed into law
includes a number of health care extender provisions, including extension of the COVID-era telehealth flexibilities under Medicare. Those flexibilities would end on Jan. 30, 2026, when the new federal spending continuing resolution expires, which means Congress will need to act again to further extend those flexibilities. Under the funding agreement, telehealth services provided between Oct. 1-Nov. 21, 2025, would be paid by Medicare at the pre-shutdown rates.
The funding agreement provides full-year spending for Agriculture-FDA, Military Construction-VA and Legislative Branch bills, while all the others will operate under current funding levels through January 30.
