ASGE and more than 30 other members of the colorectal cancer (CRC) community sent a letter this month to President Trump asking that he issue a proclamation designating March 2026 as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and to light the White House blue to honor the colorectal cancer community and raise awareness.
The letter highlighted the steady increase of colorectal cancer in young people, which is now the leading cause of cancer death for men under the age of 50 and is on track to become the number one cancer killer of all people under age 50 by 2030.
The first time the White House formally recognized March as National CRC Awareness Month was in 1999.
