Biography

Jeffrey L. Tokar, MD, FASGE, completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship and advanced endoscopy fellowship at University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2004. He subsequently moved to Philadelphia to join the gastroenterology team at Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC), a nationally renowned National Cancer Institute- (NCI) designated institution, where he has helped build a regional referral program for advanced endoscopic care. He is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine, Director of GI Endoscopy, and Program Director for the FCCC Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program. Dr. Tokar has been an active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for more than 15 years. During this time, he has served as the Chair of the ASGE Publications Committee, as liaison for ASGE to the American Board of Internal Medicine Committee on Certification and Recertification, member of the ASGE Technology Committee, contributed to development of EUS training modules for the ASGE, and has participated as faculty for a variety of ASGE educational programs, including the popular ASGE Skills, Training, Assessment, and Reinforcement program. He has authored numerous publications, including peer-reviewed articles, review articles, chapters, and editorials and has been an invited speaker at local, regional, and national conferences on various topics related to gastroenterology and endoscopy.
