Biography

Marietta Iacucci, MD, PhD, FASGE, is a professor of gastroenterology and consultant gastroenterologist at the University College Cork, Ireland.

Dr. Iacucci spent two years in London; Cambridge, UK; Mainz, Germany; Milan; and Tokyo. During this period, she became very involved with inflammatory bowel disease management. She is focused on advanced endoscopic imaging and endoscopic molecular labeling in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal disease, advanced polypectomy (EMR, ESD), and the management of IBD.

Dr. Iacucci is a fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a member of its Scientific Committee for Lower GI Endoscopy, and an international associate editor for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She is also a member of the Educational Committee and the e-Learning Taskforce of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation, a member of the Global Interventional Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group, a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology clinical research group for endoscopy, and sits on the Advanced Imaging in Colorectal Neoplasia Guidelines Committee of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. 

She has designed, validated, and published new endoscopic scores in IBD and developed new endoscopic training modules for optical diagnosis and lesion characterizations in colonic lesions and IBD. She has published many papers and invited reviews on advanced endoscopic imaging and been invited to deliver keynote lectures and take part in live endoscopy at many international and national conferences.
