Advanced endoscopy has become a popular career choice with a growing number of applicants. Dedicated third-tier Advanced Endoscopy fellowships (AEF) originated in the 1980s and initially focused on teaching diagnostic ERCP. However, the field of AE has grown to encompass many techniques, including ERCP, diagnostic EUS, EUS-guided drainage diagnostics and therapeutics, cholangiopancreatoscopy, enteral stenting, small-bowel enteroscopy and EMR and ablation. It is also growing into third spacing, ESD and POEM. These procedures are technically demanding and require a special skill set and require a dedicated year in AE.

Primarily designed for Advanced Endoscopy Fellows, this program offers a unique opportunity for those who are enrolled as an advanced/interventional endoscopy fellowship programs or who are interested in pursuing this option from within the standard GI fellowship journey. During this course, leaders in the field of advanced endoscopy will guide participants through a variety of hands-on endoscopic techniques using cutting-edge technologies, while practicing video editing skills. Case-based lectures by renowned faculty will be held in an intimate and collegial atmosphere. In exchange for this excellent opportunity, fellows are expected to submit a video to the DDW video forum.

This course is complimentary for ASGE Advanced Endoscopy Fellows members in good standing, although participants will have to pay for their own travel and hotel expenses.

If you are interested in registering for this course, please send an email to membership@asge.org – and note “Advanced Endoscopy Fellows Registration” in the subject line. Registrants must be in your fourth year of fellowship and or 3rd year if you applied to the ASGE AEF Match program at the time of this course.

In-person space will be limited, secure your spot early.

Participants will be able to:

  • Incorporate cognitive and hands-on skills acquired in advanced into the rest of their advanced fellowship year and into their early years of independent practice
  • Recognize the importance of video recording for educational purposes and acquire practical tips to select appropriate cases and develop skills to use in one’s career

Submit a Video

AEF allows trainees to develop the skill sets that are necessary for research and practice in therapeutic endoscopy, including video editing and learning cutting-edge endoscopic techniques. The top picked video will receive a waiver of the VideoGIE submission fee and will be submitted for the ASGE Video Plenary Session at DDW 2026.
