May marks Women’s Health Month 2025, a time to celebrate and elevate women’s voices in health while promoting wellness, education and self-advocacy. This year’s theme, “Empowering Women, Cultivating Health: Celebrating Voices, Wellness, and Resilience,” reminds us of the importance of centering women’s unique health needs, many of which remain underrecognized in clinical research and care.
As gastroenterologists, we play a key role in advancing preventive care through early screenings, patient education and equitable access to services. Women’s Health Month highlights critical issues, including heart health, mental wellness, cancer prevention and autoimmune disease—conditions that disproportionately affect women. It also reinforces the importance of empowering women to advocate for their health across every life stage.
Let this month be a call to action—not only for our patients, but for ourselves and our colleagues—to prioritize wellness, champion equity and create space for resilience in medicine and beyond.
