Question: We have a patient who is having difficulty completing his SKYRIZI on-body injector at home and has asked whether he could come into the office for assistance for future injections. Is there a CPT billable code for a nurse-only outpatient visit to administer an injection?
Answer: If the patient comes in to see the nurse strictly for on-body injection teaching, you can report CPT 99211 under a provider who is in the clinic providing direct supervision. The nurse must document the encounter in the patient's medical record.
